Established in 1885, the town of Platoro, Colorado is located at 9,950' above sea level in the Conejos River valley. Surrounded by the Rio Grande National Forest near the South San Juan Wilderness, Conejos Cabins are ideally situated on the beautiful Conejos River which is famous for its rainbow trout, brown trout, cutthroat trout, and brook trout. In addition to the fishing opportunities, our cabins are easily accessible to hiking trails, the Continental Divide Trail, photographic sites, hunting, back packing, and easy trails for jeeps and RVs. This area of Colorado has been rated number 1 for watching the aspens change.
Conejos Cabins consist of 11 cabins with kitchenettes including dishes and cooking utensils. Each cabin is furnished with a barbeque grill and picnic table. Eight pull-through RV parking spots are equipped with full hook-ups for electric, water, and sewer. Each RV space measures 45' deep by 20'-30' wide. A small playground for children is conveniently located to the cabins. Well-mannered pets are welcome. Fishing licenses and some snack foods are available for sale at the office.
The Platoro Reservoir is the highest man-made lake in the United States. Rent one of our boats, and pull it by trailer to the reservoir to fish for lake trout or kokanee salmon. Or, you can put in at Mix Lake. These boats
are equipped with trolling motors, but if you require a larger motor. you are welcome to bring your own.
